THE IDOLM@STER SideM WORLD TRE@SURE 05

“THE IDOLM@STER SideM WORLD TRE@SURE” CD series of “IDOLM@STER SideM” set their stages on various locations around the world. The fifth installment’s stage is on the island of eternal summer, “Hawaii”! Voice actor of Mizushima Saki, Kobayashi Daiki-san, and voice actor of Himeno Kanon, Murase Ayumu-san, talked about its charms.
The three members skilled in communicating are sure to enjoy Hawaii from the bottom of their hearts!
[The term for communicating strength / ability to talk with others and just be an overall people-person is “コミュ力”.]
—The idols who participated in “Hawaii” were Mizushima Saki, Himeno Kanon, and Maita Rui. A full-on blast of energetic characters, indeed.
Kobayashi: I thought, “Huh, they really went all in by putting these members together.” (laughs)
Murase: Since Maita-sensei was dropped in, I felt like there wasn’t just a sweet fragrance, but rather some interesting scent that drifted in, too. (laughs) Honestly, I thought he’d be put in America or England to showcase his English, but it turns out Hawaii was the one most fitting for him.
Kobayashi: You’re right; the sunny brightness suits him!
—Although the three idols have a connection in being energetic and bright, the three idols’ ages are completely different.
Kobayashi: A teenager, a twenty-plus year old…… and one whose age is a single digit!?
Murase: It’s really just Big - Middle - Small. (laughs) I guess it’s perfect, seeing how they’re all separated by roughly seven years in age each. There may be people thinking that it’s unexpected for Kanon-kun to be in Hawaii, but he suits any outfit, no matter what it is. He’s almighty. His capacity to adapt is amazing.
Kobayashi: Kanon-kun on the CD jacket is also really adorable!
Murase: If you’re saying that, then I’d have to say, so is Saki-chan’s skirt.
Kobayashi: Ah, actually, this looks like a skirt, but it’s actually pants underneath. Like the top is all frilly.
Murase: Aah, I see! That’s so cute!
Kobayashi: But considering Saki-chan’s going to Hawaii, I think he’d be taking incredibly measures against getting UV rays. (laughs) I think Kanon-kun would do the same, and so I’d imagine them sitting under a parasol with sunglasses on as they drink juice together.
—You wouldn’t think that he’s younger than ten years old. (laughs)
Murase: Unlike the mature Kanon-kun, I’d see Sensei not really minding getting tanned so he jumps out and runs around. Going around and saying things like, “Okay~! SUNSHINE!” (laughs)
Kobayashi: And when they go back to Japan, he’s the only one suntanned. I also want to see that sort of scene happening.
Murase: All three of them are extroverts, so I think their conversations would go well together.
Kobayashi: And even if Sensei were to say something strange, I can imagine Saki-chan chiding him, like “Jeez~, what are you even SAYING~!”
Murase: Sensei’s there, so they’ve got a handle on the English situation. Plus, Kanon-kun’s also learning English conversation, so I think it’d be fine.
Kobayashi: Saki-chan’s just a mass of people-person skills, and he’d definitely be great at body language so they’d take it easy. Since he’s a physical! (laughs)
—Please tell us your thoughts on the song you recorded, “ALOHA! HAPPY CREATOR!”
Kobayashi: It’s a song with an adorable mood that makes you think of Hawaii, and making these three sing it resulted in the cuteness going absolutely off the charts.
Murase: Honestly, I was wondering whether or not these three’s singing ranges would be able to go with each other, but Enoki (Junya)-kun (Maita Rui’s voice) had a wide range and the song was easy to sing. Things were no problem when it came to that issue.
Kobayashi: I think Rui-sensei has a different sense of being “refreshing” compared to when he sings in S.E.M’s songs, a more “cooling” side to him that shows up in it. The song itself was rather easy to sing along to, since the way you can let yourself go along with the beat was very nice.
Murase: Once you get carried on the rhythm, you can just keep on going that way. It’d also be fun getting to the goal during the live with it. Kobayashi-kun, were you given any specific directions to take [with the song] when you recorded?
Kobayashi: I was pretty much left to my own devices, and for the actual direction itself, they guided me by just asking things like “Could you put a little bit more scooping out?” for it, as if I was lading out portions of seconds for someone. (laughs) Ah, but I think there were times I was told “Let the scenery come to mind~”…… The lyrics are actually filled with a pretty serious message, so I thought it’d be fine to think of that while I let the scene of it come to mind. I sang it in a way that, despite those same contents, I’d be showing off an impression of energetically and brightly reaching out my hand.
—The area in the lyrics of “Even though the dream that you raised so preciously / Wasn’t able to open up yet” is really a heavy part in the song……
Kobayashi: But, it’s in the way of “Because there’s a proper timing that’s just waiting to come to you,” so you don’t have to rush it. That’s how I tried to reach out my hand.
Murase: There are dark moments, but it’s positive in the way of “Feel the southern atmosphere on your skin and get healed~!” or “You can restart yourself from here on out!” Lyrics-wise, it’s also easy to sing. But the first and second verses were a little too low when singing as Kanon-kun, so that part might have been a little difficult for me.
We’ll be meeting the world starting here! Putting those thoughts into our song
—How do you feel about “MEET THE WORLD!”?
Murase: For the “SideM” whole-group songs [e.g. PRIDE STAR, DRIVE A LIVE, etc.] it tends to be pretty hard for me to match to the key, so Sanpei (Yuuko)-san (Akizuki Ryou’s voice) and I tend to clutch our heads [in agony] when doing them. (laughs) But this time, I think it was quite easier to sing it.
Kobayashi: I think it’s wonderful how the chatter and chorusing overlap on top of each other in the chorus. Our Hawaii version is a given, but I feel like having a bunch of idols sing it all at once will make the charm of it increase all in one go.
Murase: It’s rare for the chorus to have a melody that’d make you want to cry.
Kobayashi: You’re right; the feeling of enjoying things is being added to, and there’s a sense of getting emotional because of it. If we were to sing it live, do you think we’d be able to deliver the sense of “This venue is a new one, so let’s go meet the world!” to the audience? Speaking of which, Murase-san went first when we were recording the song. I did my best at recording while listening to that adorable singing voice and thinking, “Oh, he’s a pro~” (laughs)
Murase: Thank you for the compliment, but Enoki-kun, who’s incredibly good at singing, helped me out with his part of the song. I think this applies to both of the songs, but our singing voices have a certain edge to them, and he properly wrapped them up all into something complete for us. It’s an even greater sense of him being surprisingly like a teacher.
Kobayashi: I’d like to sing it live, don’t you? I wonder how the outfits would end up looking? Since we’re doing it, I’d like to put in some props or something…
Murase: I want to put on a sun visor or something!
Kobayashi: I think that’d definitely be adorable. I believe that the outfits being in primary colors are ones you can only do with Hawaii, so I hope the staff members can do their best to make it for us.
—Is there something that you’d like to do with the Hawaii members, Enoki-san included?
Murase: A barbecue! When I go out to eat with Enoki-kun, there’s always some sort of meat on the menu, so I can’t budge on this.
Kobayashi: Might as well eat some red meat exclusive to Hawaii.
Murase: That sounds good! I’ve never gone.
Kobayashi: Neither have I.
Murase: Then, neither has Enoki-kun, definitely! (laughs)
Kobayashi: He might’ve actually visited the place with his family, though. (laughs) Ah, but if we’re talking about things we’d like to do in concert, though, I want to try using a water gun and shoot the audience with it. “Aloha~! Don’t be spooked when I get serious, ‘kay~♪” while shooting in all directions.
Murase: While Kanon-kun and Rui-sensei would be using regular water guns, I feel like Saki-chan’s the only one who’d have a different kind of water pressure in the guns. (laughs)
Kobayashi: When those two are mental water pressure, Saki-chan’s physical water pressure. (laughs) Even though it’d be rather difficult to do, I think it’d be nice if we could have LED lights or something to show off the water.
Murase: How about spraying mist the whole time after starting to bring out a sense of cooling refreshment? It’d also be interesting having it on an outdoor live.
Kobayashi: Eh— Doing it outdoors in this season would make it a little too cold…… Could we do a bath instead? (laughs)
Murase: If it’s that hot, it’d ruin everything! (laughs) We’re also looking forward to how we’ll perform the songs this time at a live. I hope everyone will listen to the songs themselves regardless of the season and get a taste for the southern country feel.
Kobayashi: Please do listen to it lots and enjoy it lots!

If you were to bring one thing to Hawaii, what would it be?
Kobayashi: For me, it’s a water gun!
Murase: They’ll stop you at customs if it’s too realistic, you know?
Kobayashi: Oh, yeah…… Then I’ll bring something to prevent sun tanning. I think I wouldn’t match well with it considering how strong it is.
Murase: I’d die if I don’t do games the whole time, so I’ll bring my iPad.
Kobayashi: There’s such a difference in our energy levels with our answers. (laughs)
—
If you could only bring Urao Takehiro [Daigo] (and nothing else) what would you do?
Kobayashi: Use him as a gofer……? (laughs)
Murase: That’s horrible of you. I’d tell Urao that “Our goal of this trip is pronounced Business” when we’re passing through customs and help him out. And because that’ll require some fine paperwork to be filled out, I’ll say “Sightseeing” while passing a sidelong glance at him getting flustered as I go right on through.
Kobayashi: Who’s the horrible one here!? (laughs)
