BRUTUS Idolm@ster SideM Ambassador Feature - Amagase Touma

Ambassador Interview 4

SideM – Amagase Touma

“I have no intention of doing things in a half-baked way, now that I’m here. I’m aiming to be a top idol who’ll shine brighter than anyone else.”

      “Thank you very much!!”

When we offered congratulations to the ambassador for being chosen, a smile resembling the sun accompanied his response.

“I was surprised when Producer notified me about this. I’ll do my absolute best to get my feelings across to the fans, because I’ve been chosen! Hokuto and Shouta plus the rest of my agency were thrilled for me. But speaking of which, when I realized that I’m 315 Production’s representative, I became aware that I couldn’t let myself get carried away. So I made sure to focus. Honestly, I thought someone who could show off a mature atmosphere, like Hokuto or Tendou-san, would get chosen instead. I still don’t have an adult’s charm, or anything resembling that, but I think I managed to do a satisfying photoshoot with my outfit and concept in mind!”

When we think of Amagase Touma-san’s image color, then it’s red. The photoshoot was taken while surrounded by the crimson Shiseido parlor in its original Ginza location. With its desserts being a given specialty, it is also famous for its high-grade spiny lobster and abalone curry.

“It costs more than ten thousand yen, right? What does it even taste like......? I make curry rather often, too, so it interests me a little.”

We saw that, alongside a fascination for his favorite food, he was also choosing souvenirs to bring back to his friends.

“Since I had the chance, I was getting things for Hokuto and Shouta. And also, for the agency. These ‘seasonal recommendations’ caught my eye. Wait, no. Maybe the assortment would be a better choice......”

Amagase-san says that he doesn’t have many chances to come to Ginza. As such, we asked him the places that he usually goes to and his favorite cities.

“I’m still a student, so for the ‘places I usually go’ question, it’d be things like my school, my agency, or the workplace. I’ve had the chance to go to a good deal of different places for work, but let me think...... Hiroshima, where I was sent for a concert before, was very memorable to me. I rushed through the sightseeing areas that fan letters talked to me about, with the members who worked in the same live performance. I was able to enjoy the city for all it had, and my bonds with everyone got stronger. It was tons of fun!”
It sounds like they get along very well, going by how he talks about them. Those same companionable members might be excited over the contents to be found in BRUTUS!

“A while back, Shouta saw one of your special features on gyoza and made a fuss about wanting to go eat them. (laughs)”

Then, are there any special reports that he’d like to be featured on?

“Would something about boys making desserts be good? We have a group in our agency called the Sweets Appreciation Club. Some time ago, the confectionery-based members of our group used strawberries to make a number of various sweets.”

We had no shortage of questions about food, but starting here, we moved onto questions for “the idol, Amagase Touma.” First, we asked him about any songs that he has strong emotional attachment to.

“The songs I’ve done up until now are all important, and I can’t forget any of them, but...... If I had to choose one, then I’d have to go with ‘BRAND NEW FIELD.’ It was the first song I did when I came to this agency that I’m in now, so that was the starting point where I planned on showing off what we could really do, with no holds barred...... That’s why I put more effort into it than usual. (laughs) Compared to back then, our bonds as Jupiter have really strengthened even more. It’s not like 315 Production is that big of an agency, so our feelings of wanting to lift it higher became stronger. Thanks to that, I was able to have more chances to chat with other members here and there, but that’s the extent to which our bonds became even more solid and secure! No doubts about it!”

As if answering to his positive mindset of aiming for the zenith, we’re spurred to straighten up our backs as well. His prop, a bouquet of flowers, is a custom-made order themed after Amagase-san, who pushes through obstacles to head to the top. The flower language of the flowers used are “gratitude,” “I will make you have fun,” and “king’s glory”......

“It makes me feel embarrassed, but I’ll be up to the task that the flower language has for me. I’ll keep striving to let the fans have fun!”

What is most precious to you as an idol?

“I’d have to say that it’s to challenge things with all my might, at any moment in time. I’m not going to let any job get the better of me, and that always lets me go full throttle. We’ll become such a huge name that we’ll do the name Jupiter proud! We’re aiming to be the top idols that’ll shine brighter than anyone else...! Er, wait. I’m sorry. I got too fired up.”

The world of showbiz is severe. He’s experienced moving agencies, and there’s no way that absolutely everything was fun to do. We can’t help but mumble, “How can you keep working that hard?”

“I guess it’s in my nature. I have no intention of doing things in a half-baked way, now that I’m here. I want all the fans to always think, ‘I’m glad I supported Amagase Touma and Jupiter!’”

His brilliance is created from heartfelt trust, gratitude, and love for the fans. That was the sort of interview we had from him.

“I’ll never, ever forget that everyone’s help gave us the chance to keep charging on this far. I’ll make the fans have fun with our all-out performances, to show them just how grateful I am! Everyone had better follow us with everything they have, too!”

10 Questions –

1. If you could bring only three things with you to a deserted island, what would you bring?

They’re not things, but if I could bring three of my partners with me, then spending time on a deserted island doesn’t sound all that boring!

2. If you compared yourself to a sushi topping, what would it be?

Uh, sushi!? Well...... Tuna, probably. It’s a go-to choice, lots of people love it, and there’s a sense of lacking if it’s gone...... is the sort of person I’d like to become, I guess. (laughs)

3. If you received 1 million yen to use freely, then what would you use it on?

I can’t even imagine having a million yen...... Oh, yeah, I’ll take everyone to yakiniku! That sounds good.

[ Yakiniku – Grilling meats at a barbecue. ]

4. What era would you go to if you had a time machine?

I’d like to go to the far future and ride one of those huge mechanical robots that walks on two legs!

5. What’s your favorite number?

I guess I’d go with “1”. I think it’s a number with a nice ring to it.

6. What would you do if you became invisible?

Hmm... Maybe I’d...... surprise Hokuto and Shouta? I can’t really think up a good way to use it. (laughs)

7. What’s your favorite proverb / motto / adage?

I’ll make my own path, just ya watch! ...Er, just you watch!

8. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up and the last thing you do before going to sleep?

Umm, brush my teeth, maybe? And also prep work for that day that can only be done in the morning, and during the nighttime, I go over what I did. Sorry that my answers aren’t very interesting. (laughs)

9. What do you do when you’re stressed out?

Obviously, moving my body around is the best choice! I move my body with all I got, playing soccer or doing dance practice.

10.   If the world were coming to an end, how would you spend your last day on Earth?

It’s not like me to get all dewy-eyed and tender, so I’ll get all loud and rowdy with my friends. I think I’d enjoy it with everything I have.
