Yes, the two of us are like mirrored images

While in your slumber,

Why do you continue to dream a dream that cannot come true?

 

Wishes on a tanzaku are snatched away by the night breeze

Flickering, they leapt into the gleaming Milky Way

 

The numerous dreams scattered across the summer night sky

Twinkle, flowing by, as they disappear

A fleeting dream sways back and forth

Dancing forth at the shore of transience

 

You cling onto a gentle, kind dream

May it not waver with sorrow

For that to happen, I simply pray here

So that those tears may hurry and dry up

 

Again today, I quietly peeked into the dream

Your shadow stands alone motionlessly

Are you waiting in vain for someone?

The sun has set while I’ve been caught unawares

 

When I look up at the night sky from the sudden rumble,

Large-ringed dream fireworks dyed the darkness

The flowers of light sparkle as they sway

Blooming out of season at the shore of transience

 

That beloved gentle flower of yours

The dazzling lights here and there

The heat haze wavers within the cradle
