Jacket Illustration - Shijima Tohiro

For the CARDS series’ 3rd volume, “HEART,” it was organized in a way that zoomed in on the SOARA members’ faces. As such, I tried to be aware of giving them a more mature, grown-up set of facial expressions. When I heard the songs, I felt that “Heartline” had refreshing lyrics and melodies, like the time when the band was just formed. “Shinkirou” suited their mature image just as I’d portrayed on the illustration. With that in mind, I think it’d be nice if you could recognize SOARA’s original essence and adult sides that you can occasionally catch a glimpse of, through both the jacket and music.

Composer - Takizawa Akira

Heartline ->

Both of these songs were modeled after the theme of “life.” The first song portrayed the feelings of warmth and gratitude. The beginning of the song, which starts off with a bell, was done with a sense of thrill. That thrill is like the special way you feel when greeting a birthday or a seasonal holiday. The strings were meant to represent natural sounds. The falsetto that was used a ton in the chorus would have to be like the manifestation of kindness and sensitivity that I put in the lyrics. It’d be nice if you could say “Thank you” to those important to you, even occasionally. HAHAHA.

[ Strings - stringed instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, contrabasses, or the sounds, performances, and players that use those instruments. ]

Shinkirou ->

I believe that the second song would be an attachment a life that fades further away. The repeated riffs from the snares represent a thrumming heart pounding louder the instant you suddenly leap out. I imagined hearts to be things that are vividly bright red, so I tried expressing the worldview as black-and-white right from the get-go. The synth’s arpeggio creates a hollow, mechanical sound. The singing parts in the verses are slightly grungy and sullen because Furukawa (Makoto)-san was the first one to record this song. As soon as the first few lines started, the song was dragged into that direction through his influence, so it turned out this way. I’m very glad for his help (<-).
